Richard Roddy,  Founder/Director      Tucson, Arizona         

 

 

Co-founder and director of Recovery Foundation of the Southwest and Recovery Foundation of the Northwest, Richard has been a Nationally Certified Addictions Counselor  (CAC) and a Certified Alcohol Counselor  (CAC) as well as a member of National Association of Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC), Substance Abuse Counselors of Colorado (SACC), and Employee Assistance Resources of Arizona (EARA).  He served as President and Director for Spirit Mountain Treatment Center, a substance abuse recovery center for youth, as well as board member of several regional and local community-based organizations.

Richard has authored numerous workshops and seminars along with related materials dealing with wellness and human growth potential issues, and has served as consultant on several recovery center projects.  A public speaker with over 35 years experience, Richard is a dynamic presenter with sincere sensitivity and a fun loving spirit.

 

Jody Cogdale,  CEO     Melville, Saskatchewan     

Jody comes to us with over 20 years of business management and marketing experience.  He has worked in corrections and rehabilitation; taught computer skills, life skills and basic literacy to the developmentally and physically disabled.  A big fan of “cyberspace”, Jody developed and maintains the Recovery Foundation website.
A sensitive, caring and ambitious person, Jody brings a strong commitment and dedication to Recovery Foundation and the work we do. Oh, and he plays the bag pipes, too!

 


 

 

Cheryl Ellis, MSW, LCSW    Durango, Colorado     

A Licensed Clinical Social Worker and therapist for 26 years, Cheryl's training is in the areas of early childhood, development and clinical social work.  She has a strong and successful background working with adolescents, children from dysfunctional homes, families, couples, sexual and physical abuse survivors, and child play therapy. Cheryl is a Life Skills Consultant and a professional trainer and presenter.  She is the co-author of How Am I Supposed To Know a "how to" guide book on teen relationship skills. Cheryl and her husband George have been working together for 19 years and have a successful, private counseling and consulting practice.  A genuine and sincere spirit, Cheryl's easy yet firm approach and style creates an atmosphere of safety and trust.

   

  Carol Cogdale, BSW(c), CSW    Melville, Saskatchewan            

A counselor, consultant and trainer, Carol is a Certified Social Worker and a Reality Therapy Certified Counselor.  Her 17 years of professional experience includes the areas of substance abuse and addiction in adults and youth, family and domestic violence and abuse, victim advocacy, crime prevention, youth justice, cross cultural awareness, and community mobilization. Carol has lived in the North for several years and has traveled extensively across the NWT, Yukon and Nunavut. An instructor for Nunavut Arctic College, life skills/vocational trainer, and workshop facilitator and presenter; Carol's fun personality, knowledge and empathy comes through in all she does.

 

 

 

Jay Derrig, MSW      Brockville, Ontario            

 

Jay has worked in the helping profession since 1982 as a licensed social worker, therapist, consultant and educator.  He has worked extensively with individuals, families and aboriginal communities from the far North to the West coast to the East coast of Canada.  His knowledge and first hand experience of First Nation issues has made him well respected by the people and communities he has served.  Jay obtained

 his Masters degree from McGill University in Montreal and his BSW from the University of Calgary. A gentle and kind man, Jay's spirit and love of people shine through in all he does.

 

Gayle S. Roddy, BA      Tucson, Arizona

 

A no-nonsense and very organized individual, Gayle brings order and stability to our organization.  She has worked extensively with youth as a tutor, teacher’s aide, Girl Scout leader, with Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) as well as being a proud mom and grandmother.  Her background include staff support for residential treatment, counseling services and employee assistance programs; office management for educational services and political campaigns as well as corporate officer for an international corporation in Honolulu, Hawaii. Gayle is a founding member of Recovery Foundation of the Southwest, Inc. and Recovery Foundation of the Northwest, Inc., and is truly the foundation of this organization.
